Vacancy: Principal Electrical Engineer

As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you will have a critical role in maintaining electrical safety on an upper tier COMAH site and making decisions on the safety and integrity of electrical and functional safety equipment. You will also plan engineering activities to ensure continued safe operation over the long term. This role will directly impact electrical safety across the site. You will manage specialist engineers, both staff and contract, and provide technical advice to senior leaders, both on site and at sector level.

Your responsibilities:
* Responsible for the safety of electrical personnel and all work on the electrical equipment and systems at site.
* Proactively promote a positive Health & Safety culture and ensure adherence to JM policies (including HR/EHS/Security).
* Management of operational, maintenance, and compliance requirements of site electrical systems.
* Knowledge in the application and control of engineering management of change.
* Approval of electrical safety documentation, and that electrical safety guidance is followed.
* Ensure that electrical compliance is achieved through adherence with all legislative requirements surrounding statutory inspections, maintenance and close out of remedial actions.
* Responsible for compiling and performing HV switching schedules and protection settings.
* Manage ongoing inspection and compliance programme for ATEX 137 and DSEAR so that equipment suitability is met within hazardous areas and that detailed equipment inspections is in place.
* Identify training needs for site electrical team and establish training packages to work with/support our HV/LV networks.
* Accountable for authorisation of all staff working on electrical equipment and maintaining the database of authorised personnel.
* Core member of the JM electrical Community of Practice (CoP), work with other areas of JM to share and develop best practice within the electrical environment across the company.
* Maintaining an awareness of technology offerings, upgrades and best practice within the electrical environment.
* Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing support, advice on electrical equipment design and ongoing assistance for operations and capital projects as required.
* Act as energy champion within Engineering, providing technical input into sustainability groups and driving energy management and metering.
Requirements for the role:
* Electrical Engineering degree from a reputable university
* Chartered Engineer
* 10+ years of industrial electrical experience including HV.
* Experience within highly regulated industries such as chemical, oil & gas, nuclear.
* Experience of HSE frameworks to at least IOSH level.
* Experience holding SAEP status for HV network.
