Job summary We are Manchester Local Care Organisation - a public sector organisation that is bringing together NHS community health services and social care services in the city. An opportunity has arisen to join our exciting and innovative team of nurses for the MCR IV Team. Since being established in 2013 the team has grown into a city wide service and enabled many patients to stay in the comfort of their own homes whilst receiving IV treatment or subcutaneous hydration that would have otherwise required a hospital admission. We not only prevent hospital admission but also facilitate early discharge. The team has shown that not only is home home IV Therapy a cost efficient way of treating patients, but that the patient experience is greatly enhanced as people are able to carry on with their own lives and avoid the disruption that can be caused by a hospital admission. It also means that hospital beds are freed up for those patients who are not able to receive treatment elsewhere. Main duties of the job Community IV Therapy is part of the Manchester Community Response which is pushing boundaries in terms of what can be achieved in the community by allowing direct access to senior clinicians to patients in their own homes. This role gives a unique opportunity to develop your skills in a community setting and work in a role delivering autonomous and bespoke care in the patients home. The service is still evolving and so networking, data collection and evaluation will be an important part of the role. You will be involved in patient discussions with clinicians from both primary and secondary multi-disciplinary teams on a daily basis therefore excellent communication skills are essential. You will have the opportunity to expand your practice by being involved in the insertion, care and maintenance of different intra -vascular access devices for the longer term patients. We are looking for reliable, motivated member of staff with extensive experience in intravenous therapy and cannulation to join our citywide team. You will be based in one of our three localities but may be required to work across the city at times of pressure. IT is essential you are confident to be able to work independently as well as part of a team as this role involves lone working.
