Here at Serco we are looking for a Prison Offender Manager (POM) to join the Offender Management Unit at our new state of the art Category C prison, HMP Fosse Way.
The role of a Prison Offender Manager (POM) based within the Offender Management Unit (OMU) is to work as part of a team, and hold the responsibility for the management and assessment of low and medium risk offenders and manage their custodial sentence in preparation for their release.
A successful candidate will be required to carry out the following duties:
Responsible for supporting the WFM Lead in ensuring the contract is appropriately resourced to deliver the service through following WFM best practise ways of workin
Support WFM Lead in working with the Operations Leads to identify and review business requirements – review and approve changes in demand or capacity plans
Allocate resources
Assign staff to schedules, including:
Amend cover shifts based on gaps between demand and actual staffing
Run staff availability report to check availability for allocation to overtime/ Bed Watch shifts
Create, amend and delete shifts to manage schedules on a daily basis, such as create overtime/ Bed Watch shifts based on requirements
Amend individual staff maximum daily hours where needed in order to assign additional shifts/hours to s
Review Staff Leave requests, including approving Leave (in WFM Lead absence) and adding of other types of leave to scheduleswhere managers have approved the time offAdminister rosters, accounting for:
1. Employee change requests (leaves and shift swaps)
2. Reviewing and managing coverage gaps including use of planned cross-deployment, overtime
3. Reviewing attendance and non-attendance of staff including planned and un-planned absence
4. Support on the day decisions/resourcing options for the operations
Manage coverage on the day, including:
5. Reviewing coverage of staffing vs demand
6. Reviewing unplanned absence notifications
7. Support WFM Lead in considering cross-deployment, TOIL and overtime to close gaps and meet demand.
Support weekly meetings with Ops Lead to review:
8. Capacity performance over prior period, including Conformance and Adherence, use of Overtime and TOIL, Training, planned and unplanned absence
9. Review planned staffing for the coming period including actions to address gaps in coverage
Essential Qualifications:
10. Recognised qualification in Maths and English
Experience:
11. Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
12. Good working knowledge of databases
13. Demonstration of flexibility and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
Skills and Abilities:
14. Able to form good working relationships
15. Able to work independently and as part of a busy small team
16. To solve issues at the earliest stage, presenting solutions to managers when required
