Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Location: Aberdeen
Background: FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea. Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.
Job Purpose: The Electrical Engineer provides front line Electrical Engineering support to the operations site based team. Delivers engineering modifications where Electrical Engineering is the main discipline. Provides technical discipline input to the Projects team. Ownership of the relevant Forties Unity Performance Standards.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Specify, scope and execute improvements to electrical systems.
2. Act as asset electrical engineering focal point for site projects, including studies.
3. Act as Electrical single point of accountability (SPA) for long-term Asset strategy.
4. Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, equipment strategy, defect elimination, and equipment rationalisation.
5. Define and own the asset’s electrical spares strategy.
6. Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, root cause analysis, defect elimination, and continuous improvement.
7. Lead/contribute to safety reviews, risk assessments and investigations as the electrical engineering focal point.
8. Maintain the integrity of asset and protective systems relevant to discipline.
9. Act as custodian of asset maintenance strategies for electrical equipment.
10. Own the discipline relevant Forties Unity Performance Standards and close out ICP actions related to them.
11. Support the maintenance team with the implementation of planned maintenance routines.
12. Support the maintenance team in regards to equipment breakdown; including investigation of fault, defect resolution and execution of breakdown maintenance.
13. Monitor and advise on the technical and safety implications of any maintenance backlog.
14. Where required, lead and coordinate additional vendor support.
15. Act as custodian of key electrical engineering documentation including Power System Study, RFI Ignition Study, Lightning Risk Assessment, High Energy Electrical Equipment Risk Assessment, Ex Inspection Strategy, ensuring same are kept up-to-date.
16. Act as Single Point of Accountability (SPA) for Electrical led site activity.
17. Responsible Engineer for Asset Electrical MOCs (Management of Change) proposals.
18. Technical approval of the electrical engineering content of Asset MOCs proposals.
19. Provide technical support to asset TAR activities.
20. Support the Electrical Engineering Technical Authority with the development and ongoing management of electrical practices and procedures.
21. Coach asset electrical technicians to ensure their competency and skills are continually improved.
Special Features:
Participation in the FPS incident management team as required. Travel to Offshore Platforms or remote onshore sites to provide technical support; Participation in the Asset self-audit program.
Qualifications and Technical Experience:
Minimum Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent; Chartered Engineer or actively working to achieve chartered status;
Minimum Experience: 5+ years experience including experience in Oil & Gas, Refining, or Chemical Industries.
Job-Specific Skills: Knowledge and experience of electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres and in relevant legislation such as ATEX and DSEAR; Knowledge and experience of the design, operation, commissioning, and maintenance of HV (up to 33kV) and LV industrial power systems and plant equipment;
Job Knowledge Skills:
Comprehensive understanding and applied knowledge of relevant UK Regulatory (Safety Case, COMAH…) and industry standards.
