The Role We are looking to recruit a proactive Legal Secretary who can provide support to Fee Earners and Partners across the Newcastle and Leeds Residential Development teams. You will join our established and leading Residential Development Land team who act on a variety of large-scale land matters such as acquisitions, disposals, strategic land options and long-term development projects. Unlike some of our competitors, our Legal Secretaries retain a traditional role, working closely with a small number of fee earners as opposed to being part of a national pool of secretaries. The role is predominantly office based but can be flexible. The Team Our Residential Development Unit exclusively partner with housebuilders. We work with all of the top 10 housebuilders in the UK and 18 of the top 20 With 200 specialists, we have the largest residential development team in the UK offering a complete acquisition to disposal service. The team acts for national and regional housebuilders, promoters and institutional landowners on new residential developments of up to 6,500 new homes. Our Land Team act on large scale development matters such as development agreements, conditional contracts, options, corporate and contractual joint venture and collaboration agreements. We also assist our housebuilder clients with strategic land projects. Our Newcastle and team are headed up by Helen O'Neill and John Kiff. The Person The successful candidate will be confident liaising with multiple stakeholders and clients, proactively organising and managing diaries and taking the lead on tasks to ensure an exceptional and seamless secretarial support service. In particular, we look for the following attributes: Previous legal secretarial experience Ability to type, draft and produce documents efficiently, and with ease is essential. First class communication skills both written and verbal. Excellent levels of accuracy. Initiative to learn and ability to self-motivate. Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines with the ability to remain calm. Capability to prioritise and multitask effectively, with good time management and organisational skills. Always demonstrate discretion and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality at all times. IT skills - Microsoft word, typing, case management use, formatting and editing documents.
