An exciting opportunity to join the Tesco Non-Food Technical Team working as a technologist within our Beauty & Personal Care category.
Supported by the Beauty and Personal Care Technical Manager, you will be the go-to person within your natural work team responsible for the delivery of safe, legal and responsibly sourced product under the Tesco brand.
We are looking for someone who has great attention to detail, loves working with product and is passionate about delivering for customers! This role is perfect for someone with a science degree or equivalent looking for a role in retail technical management.
This role provides a great opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge across a broad range of products from handwash to cotton buds!
You will be responsible for
* Ensuring products in area are safe, legal, responsibly sourced and meet the product brief, Tesco rules & policies
* Working towards being the expert in your field to including supporting development of policies and protocols in your area of work
* Working to minimise cost and risk throughout the supply chain. Ensuring appropriate controls are in place for safety, legal and quality standards
* Monitoring all quality and customer feedback. Implementing actions to resolve issues raised
* Feeding into discussions around product and process improvements
* Managing the technical critical path for new products /product changes
* Identifying and developing the best suppliers in the industry
* Ensuring suppliers have their ethical and ethical audits as required. Working with the supply base to agree action plans to drive improvement
* Supporting Suppliers to deliver against our sustainability and health goals
* Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
* Acting as a Tesco representative visiting suppliers and sites (travel around UK and EU)
You will need
* A degree or equivalent qualification in a science subject
* Customer focused
* Strong Initiative with proactive ways of working
* Personable and able build strong relationship and collaborate with all stakeholders and suppliers
* Analytical; able to interpret data and make decisions; even if all facts are not available
* Able to multitask and prioritise effectively
* Agile and open minded in approach
* Work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages

* Annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of base salary
