Project Engineer / Equipment Engineer This is an immediate requirement for a Project Engineer or Equipment Engineer with experience of working on a mix of Electronics, Electrical and PC hardware products.A great opportunity has arisen for an Equipment Engineer to work for a leading Aerospace Simulation company design company in the Burgess Hill area. This Equipment Engineer role will be working on a number of new programmes and products being developed for both the UK and international markets. The ideal candidate will have experience of design specification, procurement, dealing with 3rd parties and testing of equipment. JOB DESCRIPTION REQUIREMENTSResponsibilities for this role - Provide and maintain Subject Matter Expertise in Equipment Engineering and provide credible Technical Representation for the company when dealing with customers and suppliers - Decompose and derive the equipment requirements and standards applicable to systems under development, to which computer - based equipment and hardware will be designed and accepted, balancing cost and risk against capability and customer requirement - Develop and review programmes for certification, qualification or type approval of equipment ready to be deployed as part of our systems solutions, identifying and managing technical issues and risks. - Assist system design, test, integration, installation, commissioning and acceptance - Assess equipment and technology for suitability in application to the system and in the intended environment - Specify and design electrical and electronic circuits to meet EMC, Availability, Maintainability and Safety and verify compliance - Develop and maintain company standards, policies, procedures and guidance for the specification and design of electronic and electrical assemblies and wiring for compatibility with other equipment and systems in the marine environment. - Justify specification, design and product selection for equipment, through analysis reports and trade - off studies - Produce and maintain: technical specifications development and management plans statements of work technical assessment criteria and the technical evaluation of supplier responses - Electrical and mechanical design, producing the arrangement, assembly, schematic and wiring drawings and supporting documentation - Provide mentorship and professional leadership to the Junior Engineering community - Liaise with the sub - contract management and commercial functions in order to establish a robust, quality assured and competitive supply chain for all hardware configurable itemsRequirements for this role - Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or related discipline - Knowledge of simulation system projects - Knowledge of computer network architecture and configuration - Experience in specification, design and procurement of electronics and computer equipment - Practical and theoretical expertise in the mitigation of electrical installation risks, including EMC - Good understanding of structured design, quality, test and acceptance processes standards - Good planning, communications, writing, organisational and co - ordination skills - Intermediate proficiency in mechanical and electrical CAD and data management tools Due to the nature of the work at this site, applicants must be capable of achieving SC level UK security clearance.
