Skills needed
Friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic, proactive and committed to generating opportunities with a
passion for championing childhood bereavement. Good communication skills, strong
organisational skills, good local knowledge and an ability to work on own initiative.
Winston's Wish is a charity that helps children, teenagers and young adults (up to the age of
25) find their feet when their worlds are turned upside down by grief. Through information,
on-demand services, bereavement support and counselling, we support young people to
understand their feelings, process their grief and find ways to move forward with hope for a
brighter future. We also help the adults who are caring for young grieving people including
parents, school staff and healthcare professionals.
To help us reach more bereaved children and young people up to the age of 25, we need an
army of enthusiastic Community Ambassador Volunteers to help spread the word of our
service across local communities and networks and to inspire others to fundraise., In return you will gain experience for your CV, meet new people and support your local
community whilst knowing you're making a difference and contributing to a worthwhile
children's charity.
This is a flexible, unpaid role with no commitment to set hours. Although you will be
committing as much or as little time to the role, it would be desirable for you to spend a
minimum of five hours per month researching and contacting organisations in your local
community. All reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. Full guidance and toolkit will
be provided, along with support from the Volunteer Manager.
