The Trust is delighted to invite an experienced or new Locum Oncology Consultant to join our friendly and motivated team. We are looking for someone who is interested in Breast and Colorectal Oncology and passionate about caring for the ward based Oncology patients. This is a temporary, 12 month fixed term 10PA post consisting of Outpatient work, SACT prescribing, ward work and MDT meetings. In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration. Main duties of the job The remit of the Locum Consultant post is to work with colleagues to provide a Breast and Colorectal oncology service. The post holder will provide the oncology service for the patients in the catchment of our outreach partner- Surrey and Sussex Hospital. Job responsibilities The successful applicant will be based at the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, Surrey 3 days a week, and two days in the Royal Surrey, Guildford. The post holder will work closely with the current oncology and surgical breast and colorectal consultant teams to deliver a high level of care as part of the Royal Surrey Cancer centre. This job plan will also offer senior Oncological care to the acutely unwell patients on the ward, with support from the ward based nursing team, plus the Acute Oncology team at the Royal Surrey. The role will have a key remit in the training and support of the junior Oncology medical team, working closely with the junior medical lead and Oncology Chief of service. Person Specification Qualifications Essential • Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC • MBBS or equivalent • Higher medical qualification • Recent experience of Oncology care • Relevant experience of management of Oncological emergencies • Broad oncology experience in a variety of tumor sites Desirable • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register Clinical Oncology • Teaching/Education Qualification • Ability to plan SABR treatments independently • Experienced in HDR practice - holds Arsac license to practice
