The Council are looking for two specialist plant operatives to work out of the Duns depot. This is an opportunity to come and work at a successful organisation delivering a high standard of work throughout the year across the area of Roads Operations, undertaking duties relating to roads maintenance. The main responsibility of this role will be as a specialist plant operative carrying out work relating to road maintenance and construction using specialist plant machinery used in the road building and construction industry. The successful candidate will also be contracted to take part in the Councils winter maintenance operations and out of hours summer standby rotas.
The successful candidate will work within a team to ensure provision of an efficient and effective road service undertaking road maintenance operations competently to defined tolerances and standards, generally working in hazardous conditions, beside live traffic, or on construction sites. Engage with members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner, dealing with and/or reporting issues as required. Ensure that works are performed in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with the relevant risk assessments and method statements.
Essential
A basic education (Numeracy and literacy)
Certified relevant machinery and plant use qualification/s (i.e. Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ II, CSCS, CPCS or NPORS cards)
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
