Our School:
* The Charter School Bermondsey is a 600 place free school for pupils aged 11-16. Formerly Compass School Southwark, we opened in September 2013 to provide an outstanding education for local families.
* The school is in a new state-of-the-art building, within close proximity to Bermondsey Tube Station and boasts fantastic spaces for staff and students, including dedicated art facilities.
* Our students behave well and achieve outcomes that are above National levels. Outcomes for disadvantaged students are especially strong.
* The school joined The Charter Schools Educational Trust; home to eight Good and Outstanding schools including The Charter School North Dulwich, The Charter School East Dulwich & Charles Dickens Primary School.
* We were judged ‘good’ by Ofsted again in 2022.
We are looking for a motivated and committed colleague who:
* Leads by example as a teacher, achieving high standards of pupil attainment and progress, behaviour and motivation.
* Provides highly effective teaching and learning opportunities within their subject area.
* Engages in activities to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching with the aim of raising standards and expectations.
* Creates a learning environment that is positive, affirming and supportive.
* Keeps up to date with creative and innovative practices in teaching and learning and uses them as appropriate.
* Contributes to the department programme/curriculum i.e. curriculum, standards, target setting, assessment and reporting.
* Ensures that the students enjoy a safe and healthy environment in which standards of behaviour support learning and the social development of students.
* Develops successful inclusive approaches to teaching, including supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities and those who are more able.
* Provide regular feedback in the form of a learning dialogue to students and ensure that they are given opportunities to respond to this feedback.
