About the team:
SRUC carries out fundamental and applied research based around gut microbiology. We are interested in understanding and manipulating rumen function to minimise production of undesirable emissions (methane, nitrogen) by ruminant livestock (cattle and sheep) and in understanding the role of gut microbes in the health and welfare of companion animals.
About the opportunity:
SRUC is looking to appoint a Research Technician for a fixed term appointment for 3 years. The post will provide technical support to projects aiming at investigating rumen metabolism and microbiology.
A research technician is required to assist in research projects within the research group. The post will be predominantly based at our King Buildings centre although some work at out site in Dumfries and on partner farms in England and Wales is envisaged. The post holder's main responsibility will be to assist with the preparation and analysis of samples from on-going experiments.
Minimum qualifications and experience:
The successful candidate will be educated to at least SCQF level 8, undergraduate qualification in a relevant subject with at least 3 years' experience.
