Introduction
We would like a kind and fun loving person to provide support to our daughter (age 6). She has been diagnosed with Rett Syndrome and Epilepsy. Due to her complex disability she has profound communication difficulties and a learning disability.
She enjoys sensory play, stories, games and watching TV.
Duties
Support with all daily living tasks.
Ensuring all personal care needs are met – feeding, drinking, changing pads, showering, assistance with toileting, getting dressed/changed
Administering medications
Assisting with transfer to/from a wheelchair using hoist
Helping to transfer to and from bed, using a hoist
Following medical care plans to ensure optimal health
Looking after during the night and ensuring that she is well, helping to sooth and go back to sleep when required, assisting with changes in position during the night.
Sensory play and interaction. Stories/music and play
Encouraging the use of eye gaze to support communication and making choice where appropriate
Assisting with daily stretches/exercises and using standing frame
Assisting with play including reading books, playing games and watching TV
Hours
up to 24 hour per week – 2 nights per week but sometime in late afternoon can be agreed too
Rate: £13.10 per hour
Essential Requirements
Previous PA experience in a similar role is essential
Must have patience, fun, enjoy socialising and be reliable
Good communication skills
Confident to be directive as and when required
Physically fit and healthy to be able to adequately assist
Manual handling and hoisting experience
DBS Checks will be carried out (at employer expense)
Legally Able to Work in UK
Desired Experience
Knowledge and/or experience of -epilepsy is advantageous
Experience in this type of work is preferred but not essential, more important is a fun personality, sense of humour and a relaxed attitude
