Your future role
You will be required to complete a high level of fault finding on Electrostar and Aventra units, whilst also providing ongoing technical advice to managers and technicians working on the fleet. Take responsibility for the safe, efficient and professional workmanship of oneself and others under your control. Undertake ‘Designated Person’ and ‘Nominated Person’ safety responsibility for applying Depot Protection System and ensure safe systems of work methods are applied.
We’ll look to you to:
* Interface with control room staff.
* Liaise with Shift Production Manager to ensure that availability is met at all times.
* Monitor live ORBITA (Onboard Remote Bus Information and Telematics Application) feed to identify emerging issues and respond to alerts accordingly.
* Complete remote investigation of in-service failures using Orbita, OTMR (On-Train Monitoring Recorder), CCTV and other available systems.
* Raise work orders on Maximo system.
* Monitor Orbita feed for AVIS (Automatic Vehicle Inspection System) output.
* Undertake technical maintenance to the required standards, and in accordance with all maintenance instructions.
* Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all maintenance documentation prior to Shift Production Manager (SPM) validation and authorisation.
* Responsible to the Shift Production Manager for the accurate identification of outstanding work at the end of the shift.
* Highlight potential Health and Safety concerns.
* Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident-free environment.
* Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standards at all times.
* Supporting the SPM regarding delivery of Quality, Waste Reduction, Delivery and EHS targets.
* Produce comprehensive reports on specific fault finding investigations.
* Identify potential improvements and feedback to Engineering.
* Constantly searching for ways to improve processes.
* Assist in the coaching of staff in good working practices and quality standards. Supporting the Shift Production Manager in the identification of training needs.

* HNC (or equivalent experience) in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
* Demonstrate excellence in approach to work and people activities.
* Good level of Electrostar Technical Knowledge. Aventra knowledge also desirable.
* Practical hands-on approach to problem solving.
* Safety Critical Competencies.
* Experience in fault finding / Diagnostic skills electrically and mechanically.
* Highly self-motivated individual, able to work under your own initiative.
* You will possess excellent communication and Leadership Skills.
* Alstom System Knowledge (Orbita and Maximo).
* Meticulous record keeping.
