SW Locums are looking for a Family Safeguarding Locum Social Worker for Mendip for Somerset Council. We need a UK experienced locum Social Worker to work alongside families to support and develop motivations for change and to improve the outcomes for our most vulnerable young people and families. You will have manageable caseloads to let you be the innovative and creative social worker you want to be – undertaking direct work with children and young people to hear their voice and understand their experiences.
With permanent and experienced Team Managers, you'll be well supported with regular and reflective group and personal supervision. They are continuing to develop our use of motivational interviewing to support families with identifying opportunities for change and working to achieve and sustain this alongside them, with the support of our multi-agency partners.
You will be encouraged to attend our regular CPD sessions, and supported to attend training.
Requirements:
* You will be able to work alongside adult-focused practitioners, working within our teams, in the specialist areas of substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health, to inform assessments and plans.
* You will also work with children and families who are experiencing challenges around complex neglect, sexual harm, physical harm, risks outside of the home including child exploitation, and parental learning difficulties.
* You will work with parents and the wider family network, with access to Family Group Conferencing, to support them to identify strengths, tackle problems and change interactions and behaviours.
* UK experience working with children and families in social work, within a Local Authority team. Experience of work within family courts is essential.
* You will need to be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
* You will have right to work in the UK.
* You will be passionate about relationship-based social work, proud of your profession, and able to reflect and think creatively about how you can build relationships to make a positive difference to children and families and empower families to make and sustain changes.
* You will be a competent IT user, able to use or learn to use LiquidLogic.
* You will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle as travel is required within the county.
