Role Overview:
Macklin Group are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Group Accountant in managing the financial operations of the Malone Hotel and Macklin Care Homes (6 in total), and will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all supplier transactions, ensuring timely processing and payment of invoices.
About the role
Key responsibilities:
* Process high volumes of purchase invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
* Match, batch, and code invoices according to company procedures.
* Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies or queries.
* Prepare payment runs (BACS, CHAPS, cheques) and ensure timely payment to suppliers.
* Maintain and update the purchase ledger, ensuring all entries are posted accurately.
* Assist in billing, invoice generation, and following up on outstanding payments from clients and guests.
* Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
* Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
* Help prepare financial accounts and support with internal and external audits.
* Ensure all financial practices adhere to legal standards and company policies.
* Provide administrative support to the finance department as and when needed.
Essential Criteria:
* Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role.
* Good understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and familiar with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Collaborative mindset and willingness to assist team members as needed.
* High level of integrity and commitment to ethical financial practices.
