EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Working within our Waste Network department as Team Manager, you’ll be leading a team of skilled Operatives to repair our sewerage network. You will manage resources (people, assets, IT and finance) to meet regulatory and Company targets as well as customer expectations, delivering the highest standards of work for the lowest costs possible. As a Team Manager you will be responsible for the safety and development of your team ensuring they are fit for the future and the demanding area in which they operate. You’ll work proactively with all our internal and external stakeholders, including the Highways, DWI, Environment Agency, local communities and landowners.
The role will include being part of a company standby rota which operates /, days a year as does our network. The role will include working across different regions or areas as required.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
1. Ensure that all Waste Network repair and maintenance work in your area of control is carried out in a manner whereby: No-one gets hurt (employee, contractor or member of the public) as a result of the work we do.
2. Manage deep complicated and high-risk excavations and associated activity.
3. Construction Design Management (CDM) for complex works.
4. Establish, manage and monitor H&S standards, processes, communications and training, ensuring safe systems of work are in place for all activities.
5. Ensure all Waste main repair vehicles and equipment are in a constant state of maintenance and readiness to deploy, with your teams highly skilled, trained and confident in how to safely and effectively use them.
6. Coordinate and manage contractors and other STW staff when they are supporting Large Diameter sewer repair and improvement activities.
7. Manage the budget, including operational and capital expenditure and deliver and embed efficiencies.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Some direct experience in managing, leading and inspiring teams in a customer-focused operational environment would be advantageous. A good understanding of deep excavations and large diameter repairs will be required. You’ll be expected to be working with customers and the general public and delivering a great customer experience, with flexibility to meet both the customer’s requirement. Proven experience in a construction/civil engineering environment with experience of project management for large scheme works, and the ability to drive a program of works whilst maintaining a key focus on safety. Continuous development and improvement of the team is critical so also a requirement would be the ability to understand and put in place plans to build the department through constant innovation and improvements. A full UK driving license is required for the role.
