We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a First Contact Physiotherapist to join our dedicated and dynamic team. About the Role: As a First Contact Physiotherapist, you will be the first point of clinical contact for patients presenting with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. Using your advanced clinical practice skills, you will assess, diagnose, and provide management options for a wide range of MSK conditions. You will work autonomously, supporting an integrated care pathway that links primary, community, and acute services to ensure patients receive the best possible care. You ll be working with a variety of patients, including those with complex MSK conditions, multiple pathologies, mental health challenges, and pain management needs. Your expertise will help patients navigate through their treatment journey, while you develop tailored care programs, facilitate social prescribing, and ensure comprehensive clinical support. Key Responsibilities: Lead independent assessments, diagnoses, and triage for patients with MSK symptoms. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), orthopaedic, and physiotherapy consultants across community and acute settings. Provide a range of treatment options including self-management strategies, rehabilitation services, and social prescribing. Use advanced clinical reasoning to make informed decisions on complex cases and provide professional judgement in unpredictable situations. Manage your own caseload of patients, taking responsibility for prioritising and delivering exceptional care. Essential Qualifications & Experience: BSc degree in Physiotherapy and Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration. Proven experience working at Level 7 within the ACP framework in MSK-related areas (including advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment). Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and make clinical decisions based on your advanced clinical skills. Strong knowledge of MSK assessment, care planning, treatment, and evaluation in highly specialised areas. Experience working with Microsoft and GPIT systems, along with prescribing data monitoring systems. Demonstrated experience of leadership in clinical settings, with the ability to supervise and support specialist staff and lead multidisciplinary teams (MDTs). Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate teams, communicate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders, and handle difficult or sensitive conversations. Desirable Qualifications & Experience: Pre-registration MSc degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent. Completed or working towards Supplementary Prescribing or non-medical prescribing qualifications. Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders in the MSK pathway and experience managing change across services. Experience in senior-level decision-making and evidence of leading or implementing evidence-based practice. Key Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to inspire and motivate a diverse team. Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make well-judged decisions in complex or unpredictable situations. An understanding of the impact of physiotherapy interventions on existing treatments and the ability to integrate those approaches into broader care plans. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and build trust with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. Demonstrates a flexible approach to working and can manage competing priorities with a high degree of motivation and discipline.
