This role will support the UKPayments industry by developing policy which is responsive to bothcustomer needs and regulatory concerns. The position will alsoprovide policy and secretariat support to working groups andcommittees ensuring they receive timely highquality inputs whichinform their work and our policypositions.
Thispost will also contribute to the production of a range ofpublications public affairs material and online mediacontent.
Managing various theclients internationally focussed committees including at the EUlevel and supporting and managing UK focussed committeesin
interbank and consumer retailmarkets
Managing the EuropeanPayments Working Group to build positions on keyEuropean policydevelopments and identify where UK industry would benefit fromaligning/diverging from European payments policy. Overseeing the UKs continued membership of SEPA through close coordination withmembers
and the European PaymentsCouncil (EPC).
Working inpartnership with members of the payments team across a broad rangeof strategic issues relevant to UK and internationalpayments.
Jointly managing theclients relationships with trade associations in the EU andinternationally for payments and personal banking includingthe
European Banking Federation(EBF) European Payments Council (EPC) European Card PaymentAssociation (ECPA) and InternationalBanking
Federation(IBFed).
Jointly managing theclients relationship with key regulators across the payments andinnovation agenda acting as a technical expert includingwith
HM Treasury the FinancialConduct Authority (FCA) and Payment Systems Regulator(PSR).
Engage closely with andsupport the clients colleagues and groups working on crosscuttingprojects/workstreams on a number of issuesacross
payments digital dataeconomic crime and the ongoing review of the Payments ServicesRegulations.
Provide members withrelevant market and regulatory insights to inform their ownbusiness planning.
Responsibilityfor preparing consultation responses Committee and Board papers andcommunicating with senior level representatives internallyand
externally.

Knowledge of theUK and European public policylandscape.
Knowledge andexperience of the payments sector demonstrating an understandingof:
o the challenges faced bymembers in running their businesses including the needs of memberscustomers and clients
o the needsof regulators and authorities
othe international dimension of payments and particularly how the UKengages with Europe inpayments
Understanding of the wider payments landscape including card andinterbank payments and where the key policy issues intersectinternationally.
Capable ofacting as a subject matter expert and credibly representing theclients externally with speeches webinars conference panels ChathamHouse discussions and potentially themedia.
Public policy affairsexperience at the UK and/or EU level with governmentparliamentarians and regulators (either within those circles orwith a firm or
consultancy) ishighly desirable for this role. Ability to track horizon scan andsummarise emerging regulatory and policydevelopments.
Excellentinterpersonal and communication skills ability to distill complexissues into compelling policy advocacy positions together with theability to effectively manage diverse stakeholderrelationships.
