Job Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Science Teacher to deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire students of all abilities to achieve their full potential in science.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching and Learning:
1. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) that align with the national curriculum and inspire students' curiosity.
2. Set high expectations for student achievement and provide differentiated instruction to support learners of all abilities.
3. Monitor and assess students' progress, providing constructive feedback to help them succeed academically.
4. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement and a passion for Science.
2. Curriculum and Innovation:
1. Contribute to the development of a dynamic and inclusive Science curriculum that reflects current advancements in the field.
2. Incorporate practical experiments, digital tools, and real-world applications to make lessons engaging and relevant.
3. Student Support and Development:
1. Inspire and challenge students to pursue Science both academically and as a career path.
2. Support students preparing for Science GCSEs (and A-Levels, if applicable), offering tailored guidance and intervention as needed.
3. Act as a positive role model and mentor, fostering students' academic, personal, and social development.
4. School Engagement and Collaboration:
1. Collaborate with colleagues within the Science department and across the school to share best practices and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
2. Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional development sessions, and extracurricular activities, such as STEM clubs or school trips.
3. Uphold the school's policies on safeguarding, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
1. A degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
2. Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach Science at Key Stages 3 and 4.
3. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
4. A genuine passion for Science and a commitment to inspiring students to succeed.
Desirable:
1. Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 5.
2. A proven track record of achieving excellent student outcomes.
3. Knowledge of innovative teaching strategies and a willingness to embrace new technologies in education.
