This is an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced, high calibre pharmacist looking to further advance their career within Adult Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition services at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will need to be flexible and organised, work well within a team and have a ‘can do’ positive attitude.
The Intestinal Rehabilitation Service (IRS) at St George’s Hospital is a tertiary-level specialist service dedicated to the assessment and management of patients with severe intestinal failure within southwest London.
The IRS is led by a multi-disciplinary team who provide a comprehensive approach to patients with intestinal failure receiving parenteral and enteral nutrition. The role of the team is to assess, manage and support individuals with intestinal failure, both as inpatients and in the community.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic senior pharmacist to join this service and work to ensure the continued provision and development of high quality, comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to patients with intestinal failure at St. George’s and within SW London. The Service is working towards establishing service level agreements with partner Trusts including the Royal Marsden and St Mark's IRS for regional expertise.
• Act as the Principal Pharmacist for Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition Services including independent prescribing, nutrition ward rounds and outpatient clinics.
• Manage and lead the pharmacy Intestinal Rehabilitation team within the organisation and across interface boundaries.
• Work as an expert pharmacist for Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition Services, contributing to advanced decision making within multi-disciplinary teams at St George’s Hospital and jointly with our partner Trusts.
• Manage and implement services designed to improve the pharmaceutical care to patients and extend the boundaries of clinical practice.
• Identify and support the facilitation of CIPs within the relevant directorate and participate in financial reporting and drug budget management.
• Progress service improvement initiatives through multi-disciplinary working to ensure safe and timely provision of medicines.
• To participate in service development and evaluation, audit, research, risk management and clinical guideline development, both within St. George’s and in conjunction with St. Mark’s in line with the West London Intestinal Rehabilitation Service.
The successful applicant will enjoy working in a busy challenging environment, be able to manage multiple priorities and deliver against tight deadlines. You will have excellent communication skills and be an enthusiastic educator. The ability to work autonomously and with a high level of accountability is essential.
