The Role:
We are looking to recruit an Advanced Specialist Midwife to join the Maternity Ward at University Hospital Wishaw.
The successful candidate will carry continuing responsibility for the management and care of a specific client group.
The post holder will be involved in providing both individual patient care and in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care, within a specialised area of Women's service.
The Advanced Specialist Midwife will ensure compliance with NHS Lanarkshire's policy and procedures, and maintain statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC to function autonomously, with no immediate peers or specialist support.
The successful candidate will provide safe, effective centred person care.

Contract Type / Shift Pattern
Band 7 / Fixed-term or Secondment - 1 year / Full Time / 37 hours
What we'll need you to bring:
* Registered Midwife on Part 10 of the NMC Register or Registered Nurse Part 1 of the NMC Register
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
* Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
* Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology
It would be good if you also had:

* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Communication skill both written and verbal
* Motivation skills
* Leadership skills
