Your new company
This boutique consultancy were early adopters of taking Valuations out of wider service firms and investing in it as a specialism in its own right. With a well-established and loyal client base, a strategic transaction of their own has yielded further investment, enabling them to not only take more market share but develop new specialisms at the same time. They are adept in consulting many scenarios, just a few of which include:
1. Fairness opinions
2. Intangibles and Intellectual Property
3. Transfer Pricing, Royalties and IP Antitrust
4. Private Equity and Structured Finance
5. Debt Restructuring
6. PPAs
7. Tax valuations (private clients, incentive plans, share issues etc)
8. Securitisation/Restructuring of intangible assets
9. M&A/ Transactions
and many more
Your new role
Working across a wide range of mandates as listed above, you'll help prepare Valuation Reports for peer review to include:
10. Company and business valuations and shareholdings - contentious and non-contentious Intangible Asset (IA) valuations including brands, trademarks, patents, customer intangibles and copyrights - contentious and non-contentious
11. Providing technical support (, excel, Xero) and in due course training for junior valuers and analysts
12. Royalty Rate advice generally and in Transfer Pricing appraisals
13. Business Development to expand business, pitching new projects including fee estimate negotiation
14. Articles in financial and IP/Legal media
15. Preparing and reviewing reports and models prepared by colleagues,
16. Being a secondary client contact point and undertaking client meetings UK and worldwide
17. Applying valuation techniques and advanced valuation models, Black Scholes, Monte Carlo, Gordon Growth and similar
18. Form part of the team developing streamlined on-line in house proprietary valuation templates
19. Ability to work on multiple cases simultaneously
20. Ability to react to changing specifications within tight deadlines
What you'll need to succeed
Analyst = ACA/CFA or equivalent. Ideal is some early-stage valuation advisory experience, but my client will also consider those who have conducted a significant % of valuation assurance as part of their audit responsibilities.
Senior Analyst: qualifications as above, but you're likely to be in a valuations team already and perhaps frustrated by lumpy WIP or an overly-specialised industry grouping.
Additionally:
21. Accountancy or consulting practice environment background
22. Team player who enjoys working in a small team.
23. Very confident using Excel, Word and research databases
24. Experience of managing smaller projects UK and worldwide
25. Working with Private Equity/Venture Capital/Funds clients
26. Ideally some existing knowledge and experience of intangible assets and accounting standards in relation to IA.
And of course a recognition of the impact this 21st century discipline has on multiple business strategies
What you'll get in return
27. Working with fellow specialists in a truly independent, conflict-free firm
28. Exposure to international mandates
29. Properly meritocratic promotion - we have seen this with our own placements here
30. Hybrid working arrangement, and a recognition of the balance of family and working life
31. Sociable firm
32. A career which widens your options in the future, not narrows them
