A bit about me:
I am a shy 19 year old Female with Down Syndrome who wants to continue to build up her independence and social skills. I live away at college in Minehead during term time studying hospitality. When I get home in the holidays I live with my Mum, Dad and older Brother. I would like to be able to enjoy time out and try new things. I am looking for someone close to my age to take me to different places. I enjoy going to the cinema, theatre and concerts. I love swimming, the library and going to the café. I used to do a lot of indoor climbing and would love to get back into this again. I can get overwhelmed in busy places if they are noisy.
About the role:
When we are out, I am confident in the places that I know and I am happy getting the local bus. I need support if I am doing something new or in big crowds as I might lose track of time and lose my way. I occasionally need support with toileting. Therefore it is requested that the applicant be Female due to the role potentially involving personal intimate care. For this reason it is exempt under the general occupational required section of the Equality Act 2010.
The kind of person I am looking for:
Ideally you will have experience of working with young people with special educational needs. Driving licence is essential and use of own vehicle with business insurance in place is necessary. You should be kind, reliable, trustworthy and be sensitive to my needs.
Application Form:
