Job Description
As the Director of Engineering at Cambridge House, you will lead a passionate team dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation of our London property. As part of the Executive Team, you will have full accountability for the Facilities and Loss Prevention. Your leadership will reflect our commitment to design, craftsmanship, and precision in every detail.
1. Champion the Auberge Resorts Collection values, instilling a 'design-led' mindset in every aspect of the property’s maintenance and operations.
2. Lead a proactive and strategic preventative maintenance program that ensures the highest standards of quality and guest experience.
3. Oversee and maintain all systems of the physical plant and grounds with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all repairs and maintenance are performed with precision.
4. Ensure safety programs are developed, implemented, and continually improved, prioritizing the well-being of both guests and team members.
5. Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies to minimize impact on guests and operations.
6. Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasting accurately to support just-in-time maintenance and improvement projects.
7. Oversee the maintenance of inventory and logs for equipment and inspections to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
8. Direct the operations, performance, and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire life safety, and other essential systems.
9. Review financial reports and statements, continuously seeking opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, and operational improvements.
10. Implement procedures that align with our standards for quality and precision, including the Life Safety Manual, Business Continuity Plan, and Emergency Protocols.
11. Manage and supervise subcontractors to ensure projects meet our elevated quality standards.
12. Manage capital expenditure projects with a sharp focus on design integrity and operational impact.
Pre-Opening Responsibilities
1. Lead and coordinate pre-opening project management, ensuring timelines, budgets, and design standards are met.
2. Collaborate closely with ownership, contractors, and design teams to ensure alignment with the Auberge Resorts Collection's vision and quality expectations.
3. Manage the acquisition, documentation, and tracking of warranties for all systems and equipment.
4. Establish and negotiate service contracts to ensure post-opening support is in place.
5. Identify, document, and follow up on all pre-opening deficiencies to ensure resolution prior to the resort's official opening.
Qualifications
1. 10+ years of experience as a Director of Engineering within a luxury hotel environment or high-end residential properties, with a focus on refined design and elevated guest experiences.
2. Proven leadership skills with strong organizational and project management abilities to effectively prioritize tasks.
3. Certified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with expertise in plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, spa and pool utilities (where applicable), and carpentry.
4. In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems.
5. Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
6. Familiarity with the operations and priorities of all operating departments.
7. Experience ensuring compliance with local and national health and safety regulations.
8. Exceptional attention to detail with an unwavering commitment to quality and precision.
9. Ability to live and work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship.
10. Pre-opening experience with new built projects is highly beneficial.
