Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Gas Division, supporting projects across the utilities and civil engineering sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction, with utilities experience considered advantageous but not essential. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of contracts, from smaller works to high-value, complex projects, providing a challenging and rewarding career opportunity. Key Responsibilities: Manage subcontractor relationships, including negotiating rates, reconciling tender and subcontractor pricing, agreeing variations, and assessing payment applications. Prepare and submit tender documents, including cost analysis, reviewing terms and conditions, compiling subcontractor packages, and evaluating tender responses. Oversee all aspects of contract administration, including monthly valuations, variation control, payment processing, and managing claims if required. Prepare and present monthly cost reports as part of the Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) process, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial reporting. Collaborate closely with Project Managers and site teams to ensure commercial processes align with operational delivery. Essential Requirements: Previous experience working on civil engineering and utility contracts. Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to maximise value while maintaining positive client relationships. Proven ability to meet and exceed commercial targets and KPIs. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address issues early. Capable of setting up and managing site-based commercial and reporting systems. Hands-on approach, with a track record of managing projects from inception to completion. Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational abilities. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Competent negotiator with clear and effective communication skills. IT proficient, particularly with Microsoft Office and cost control systems (e.g., Envision ). Familiarity with industry-standard contracts such as JCT, NEC, and bespoke agreements.
