SCIENTIST

IngenOx Therapeutics is a bio-pharmaceutical company focused on delivering new precision medicine drugs and vaccines to treat the most difficult cancers, often referred to as cold tumours. IngenOx is a spinout from the University of Oxford, and is located in the Oxford Science Park, UK. Its pipeline comprises early to late-stage products that work in different ways to activate the immune response against cold tumours, which are generally poorly recognised by the immune system.
There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated lab-based scientist to join our research and development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of molecular and cell-based screens as well as general laboratory duties such as maintenance of cell lines, stocks and database management. In addition, the successful candidate will support the translational oncology team evaluating new cancer vaccines and testing novel drug-combinations to advance the IngenOx Therapeutics oncology pipeline.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Perform general cell-based screening activities involving mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
* Apply cell and molecular biology techniques to identify and evaluate biomarkers
* Assist with the general running and maintenance of the laboratory, including stock control and interactions with outside suppliers.
* Maintain a database of results and record keeping for all aspects of laboratory organisation.
* Provide assistance with assay development and protocol optimisation.
* Maintain mammalian cell culture facilities and other equipment as necessary.
* Maintain effective communication with Project Management.
* Participate in group meetings.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Laboratory experience of mammalian tissue culture techniques would be advantageous, but training will be provided.
* Demonstrated experience in the following techniques would be desirable: qPCR, Western, Blot, ELISA, Flow Cytometry, Cell viability assays and Immunohistochemistry.
* Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* Keen attention to detail with the ability to follow specific protocols and SOPs.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in life sciences or other relevant field is essential
* 3-6 years relevant laboratory experience with preferred background in a drug discovery/cancer research/cancer immunology; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience would be advantageous.
