We are looking for a Production Quality Engineer to provide hands-on quality engineering expertise to ensure our products and services meet customer requirements. Facilitate, train and support the business in the deployment of Sonardyne’s Quality improvement initiatives. Manage KPI’s and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximise success. Ensure supplier quality excellence, supporting purchasing and inspection and ensuring quality excellence is carried out within production and new product designs. Aid productivity improvements with project-based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduced waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs. Your Responsibilities Collaborate with production, quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify product and process specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production. Provide quality engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques. Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerancing, and materials related issues. Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources. Effectively communicate and reinforce Sonardyne’s commitment to quality improvement efforts. Assisting NPI department in pre-production process ensuring quality excellence is achieved on product prior to release to production. Working closely with NPI team to ensure pre-production process is supported and quality information is gathered and reported before product release. Participate in the use of a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) where required. Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and effective corrective action. Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Toolroom to resolve supplier concerns. Apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools and define, manage, and report on the production key performance indicators (KPI’s) Recommend and implement enhancements to the quality system that result in improved quality performance, increased customer satisfaction, and/or simplification of processes to reduce costs. Perform supplier audits as required and provide ongoing communication/reporting of results. Participate in the reporting, analysis and review of product and process performance to identify opportunities for improvement. Produce supplier quarterly summaries to support supplier purchasing reviews and audits. Supporting mechanical inspection quality decisions and investigations with a view to reducing engineering support resources. The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge and experience: Essential IT literate, proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Practical knowledge of IPC Standards. Proven experience of Production Quality Engineering and Control within a Manufacturing environment. Experience of process management. Proven track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment. Experience in the automotive, electronics or defence/aerospace industries. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality environments within engineering, manufacturing, marine or defence sectors. Desirable Awareness of or experience with SharePoint would be ideal, but not essential. Experienced in supplier development. Experienced practitioner in application of quality improvement tools. Supplier quality assurance experience. Auditor Certified – preferred but not essential. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, prefer Manufacturing, Electrical or Mechanical. Member of the CQI.
