Main duties of the job
This postholder will have a specific focus on delivering our primary care communications strategy to support initiatives to improve access to dental care services - all of which are crucial to delivering our ambitions to improve access to care, tackle health inequalities and prevent ill-health in our region.
The postholder will be an integral part of our communications team and work closely with a wide range of colleagues and partners internally and externally.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to drive forward creative ideas on how we best communicate with the public and other stakeholders - from public campaigns that are vital for patient awareness of access to dental services to ensuring stakeholders, partners and the public are informed about changes to the way services are commissioned.

Our Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the largest in the country.
The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including promoting integration of health and care services, improving people's health and well-being, and reducing health inequalities.
With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community-based area providers.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Training and Experience
* Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent experience
* Significant experience in a large, complex organisation using a wide range of engagement techniques at corporate and local levels
* Proven track record of developing and implementing effective engagement and communications plans and tracking and managing project delivery and evaluation
* Partnership working - building effective partnerships with different groups (internal & external) and partner agencies/organisations.
* Developing policies relating to communications and engagement
* Experience of working in an NHS environment
* Experience of working with service users, patients, carers and public seeking involvement in strategy and service development
* Experience of planning and delivering communications and engagement/involvement plans including formal consultations
* Experience of organising/managing large scale events
* Experience of identifying and building relationships with key stakeholder groups in the voluntary and community sector
* Experience of working with local authorities, Health and Wellbeing Boards, Healthwatch and overview and scrutiny committees
* Experience of developing and managing relationships with stakeholders to ensure a high level of satisfaction
* Experience in media relations, marketing and broader communications issues.
