This is a great development opportunity for a motivated self-starter to learn all about Lucy Products and how they are used in the electricity industry; your role will be to provide technical support to our internal and external customers. Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications. Job Context: You will work as part of a wider technical support team working closely with another technical support engineer, contract engineers, contract design engineers and technical authors. You will be providing support to our sales, customer service and energy service departments as well as external customer both in the UK and overseas. As we work towards net zero, there is a need for more sophisticated protection and control to be added to our basic products; you will be involved in assessing customer’s varied needs and advising on the optimum technical solution. Tasks will be varied and will consist of reviewing specifications, providing advice, collating documents and getting stuck in with learning everything about our products so the best technical assistance can be provided. Job Dimensions: This role will predominantly be based in Thame and travel within the UK may be required. Key Accountabilities: These will include: Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers, on all Lucy products, via phone or e-mail. The queries are varied in complexity and range from providing basic information to troubleshooting issues. Assist applications managers in reviewing customer specifications and schemes and provide advice on the correct products to offer. This can involve meeting with customers to discuss their exact requirements and helping to design and test the final solution. Assist applications managers in assessing and testing new auxiliary devices such as protection relays, FPIs and VDS systems. Provide advice to global Lucy Factories on test procedures for new and existing Lucy products. Provide on site support and advice to the Service departments. Participate in customer factory acceptance visits, ensuring that the product is fully tested to their requirements. Assist in sorting out and snagging issues to a satisfactory conclusion. Collate contract documentation (drawings, specification sheets etc) to send to customers for approval. Prepare bespoke contract schematics and drawings on CAD system. Assist QA in fault finding and issue resolution on returned products. Secondary Activities / Tasks To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service of the department. To undertake business travel within the UK as required. Qualifications: Essential Sound background in Electrical or Mechanical engineering HNC / HND minimum in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industrial experience Good communication skills in a one to one or group environment PC literate in Microsoft Office Excellent attention to detail Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines Desirable Knowledge of Electrical Switchgear Exposure to 3D CAD, ideally Siemens NX Behavioural Competencies Is a confident self-starter Able to work both independently and within a team Have a customer centred focus Good interpersonal skills with a pleasant and can-do attitude Highly organised Must have a positive and confident approach to tasks Good problem-solving skills An ability to think logically and practically Does this sound interesting?
