If you have experience in the operations area of an IT department then you could be exactly what we are looking for Working for Digital Services, you will bring significant technical experience in supporting and developing Midlothian Councils extensive data and voice networks. As a member of the Network Team you will work to develop, manage and support the infrastructure that keeps the council connected. You will be working alongside a strong team of technical specialists in this challenging and rewarding role. While prior experience in a network support role is desirable, it is not essential. We value a can-do attitude and willingness to learn. Much of your time will be spent visiting various Council sites (numbering 80) to resolve network related issues, making every day different and engaging. The successful applicant will be supported and developed in line with the changing demands of the organisation. Essential Jobholders will be educated to Higher National Diploma in Information Technology, or a similar relevant subject, or be able to demonstrate extensive relevant experience. Experience working within a team of IT professionals in a multi-vendor environment is essential. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude. Basic understanding of network architecture and related technologies. A full clean driving license and willingness to travel within the Midlothian area when required. Role will be desk based within Dalkeith. Skills and awareness to understand and manage risks in a computer environment Desirable Knowledge and substantial practical experience supporting data switches (Cisco), wireless networks (Aruba), VoIP telephony (Avaya, Mitel, RingCentral) Strong demonstratable troubleshooting and fault-finding skills. Producing technical documentation and any supporting network drawings. Relevant industry certifications – CCNA/CCNP, CWNA, COMPTIA or other network vendor certifications.
