Our Business Support teams play crucial roles in our firm, ensuring that the legal teams can focus on delivering high-quality legal services to clients while the Business Support teams handle the administrative and operational tasks that keep the firm running smoothly. They provide essential support functions such as managing the office, handling finances, supporting marketing efforts, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
Our Cashroom team plays an important role in our firm. Their primary responsibility is to manage the cash and other financial resources of the company, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The team is responsible for processing and reconciling daily transactions, managing bank accounts, and ensuring that all cash and bank balances are accurate and up-to-date.
The team is also responsible for identifying discrepancies in financial records and developing strategies to mitigate those risks. They work closely with other departments within the firm to ensure that financial decisions are aligned with the company’s overall goals and objectives. In addition, the team is responsible for managing relationships with external stakeholders, such as banks and other financial institutions. They provide regular financial reports and updates to these stakeholders to ensure that the firm is meeting its financial and regulatory obligations.
Overall, the Cashroom team is essential to the financial health of our firm. They provide critical financial information and analysis that helps drive decision-making and ensure the accuracy of our financial records. Our team of experienced professionals are dedicated to providing the highest quality of service to our clients.
Gillespie Macandrew has an excellent opportunity for a Cashroom Assistant to join our Finance team in the Edinburgh office. The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative support, assisting the department in meeting and exceeding service delivery expectations.
Some of the key responsibilities will include:
1. Operating in compliance with all relevant regulations including The Law Society of Scotland (LSS), Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Anti Money Laundering (AML)
2. Maintaining firm and client accounts
3. Processing CHAPS & BACS transactions
4. Bank reconciliations
5. Assisting with month-end procedures
6. Daily banking routines and balancing
7. Purchase ledger invoice management
8. Ensuring that the service needs of the Firm are delivered efficiently and effectively
The role requires a highly motivated and proactive team player with the ability to effectively plan and manage a high and varied workload. The successful candidate will be expected to have strong Microsoft Excel and numeracy skills. Working knowledge of the PMS system 3E will also be beneficial but is not essential.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have experience in a similar finance-related role. This is a full-time position; however, consideration will also be given to part-time and flexible working offering a degree of flexibility in your place of work. A SOLAS Qualification would be desirable but is not essential. Gillespie Macandrew would support the successful candidate through a professional qualification if required and will provide full training.
