Cranleigh STEM has partnered exclusively with a leading R&D coatings business based in Buckinghamshire. They are currently recruiting for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge coating technology applied across sectors such as nuclear, aerospace, and semiconductors.
Graduate Mechanical Engineer responsibilities
1. Design, build and commission coating systems for many different industries.
2. Operate highly technical equipment to ensure scale up experiments run smoothly.
3. Develop and upgrade equipment.
4. Assist with small-scale production projects.
5. Work closely with chemists and engineers on multidisciplinary tasks.
6. Analyse data and compile detailed experimental reports.
7. Ensure that R&D machinery and testing equipment are maintained and calibrated.
Graduate Mechanical Engineer requirements
1. Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering/Science.
2. A strong interest in pursuing a career in Engineering – with a strong appetite for practical work.
3. Additional understanding of Electrical Engineering is highly advantageous – university modules, hobbies etc.
4. It will be highly beneficial to have displayed hobbies/interests in practical work – DYI or restoration for example.
5. An understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures.
6. Strong planning, organisational, and team communication skills.
7. A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to take responsibility.
8. Flexibility and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
9. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
