SUMMARY:
Coordinators at NEKCA lead and organize across multiple programs and providers to integrate and streamline services throughout our agency and with regional partners. Coordinators are highly collaborative and great communicators. They are responsible for facilitating program and regional meetings and implementing human-centered programming across all levels of programming. Coordinator responsibilities may include supervision, grant reporting, and ensuring smooth operations at service locations in support of the Program Manager.
This is a position for a Coordinator in the Youth Advocacy Department who organizes, promotes, and provides the day-to-day programming of the Youth Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform intake per requirements of NEKCA/grantor. Determine and verify eligibility for all applicants in accordance with program guidelines.
2. Collect and report all data accurately and timely into GoEngage to meet program deadlines.
3. Assess participants in crisis to determine immediate needs and develop a plan for response, including referrals (interagency and external).
4. Work collaboratively with community partners to address the needs of low-income households.
5. Understand and follow all program guidance and policies.
6. Provide programmatic support to the work team as designated by the Program Manager.
7. Provide the Program Manager with regular updates.
8. Attend and participate in staff, agency, and community meetings deemed necessary for job performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate day-to-day programming of the Youth Center driven by youth voice and needs.
2. Responsible for opening and closing procedures, coordinating staffing, and maintaining the safety of the space.
3. Cultivate and maintain a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for youth to spend time in by utilizing shared agreements and restorative practices to resolve conflicts.
4. Be an askable adult: Cultivate safe and trusting relationships with all youth, free of judgment and ready to support youth and their families with any challenges they face.
5. Promote Youth Center activities in a variety of places, spaces, and formats.
6. Facilitate youth leadership and youth voice in the development of programming and operations by leading a monthly Advisory Council.
7. Facilitate and lead community partners in collaboration to meet the needs of youth in our community.
8. Maintain inventory of all program supplies, equipment, and essential needs for youth to access.
9. Recruit, direct, and monitor volunteers and youth Peer Support workers.
10. Facilitate and supervise Youth Center activities and events, which may include evenings, weekends or holidays.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
BA (preferred)
1-2 years relevant experience required.
Core Competencies:
1. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to maintain good relations with participants, other staff, and members of the community.
2. Must have knowledge of basic computer skills and record keeping, including spreadsheet applications.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and database management systems.
4. This position is considered a mandated reporter.
5. Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-initiated, may need to work flexible hours (program dependent).
6. Demonstrate positive problem-solving skills in stressful situations.
7. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
8. Demonstrate familiarity with, and sensitivity to the challenges faced by low-income individuals, and some knowledge of the community and available resources to address them.
9. Maintain confidentiality.
10. Complete all required training and professional development.

Transportation Requirements:
This position requires that employees possess a valid driver's license, favorable driving record results, and have access to dependable transportation. This position may require the transportation of participants.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employees in this position work primarily in an office environment with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature conditions. The work involves sitting for extended periods of time, using a computer and other office equipment and may require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. The position has occasionally bending, stooping, or reaching for items. Standing or moving around the office area. Occasional work performed outdoors and at external community locations.
