We are seeking a teacher with a passion for teaching children to learn about food, nutrition and catering to provide maternity leave cover for one year from September 2025. Are you an ECT looking for their first position or a teacher with more experience looking to further develop your career? Either way, we would be keen to hear from you.
Teaching Food and Catering these days can be a challenging job – particularly in a national context that does not seem to celebrate its importance. Here we resolutely refute that context and have a department that offers opportunities across KS3 and KS4 in purpose-built food rooms and a modern professional catering area within our QEStudio building.
We expect to appoint a teacher of Food and Catering who has:
* a keen intellect and an excellent academic background with a very good degree
* either a great track record of success teaching GCSE Food and/or Hospitality and Catering or, in the case of an ECT, great promise as a teacher within Food and Catering.
* knowledge and skills to teach KS3 Textiles (if needed)
These are just some of the qualities we are looking for and we have a culture of high expectations but most importantly we are looking for someone with an ambition and drive to be the best teacher they can be. Working here is demanding but the rewards are commensurate in a school with a strong, highly motivated staff, great facilities, a lovely environment and pleasant, friendly and highly motivated pupils.
Bordering the Lakes and the Dales and yet surprisingly well-connected, for over 400 years we have forged a strong community ethos providing ‘Scholarship and Care’. We’re immensely proud of our commitment to the highest quality teaching and learning coupled with extraordinary pastoral care. We are a truly comprehensive community in which every child is cared for, supported and stretched, moving on to diverse destinations, from local apprenticeships and college courses to highly selective universities.
Building on our long successful history, we launched our sister school in September 2017 creating a small multi-academy trust of our 2 schools, the Lunesdale Learning Trust.
Applications are welcomed from well-qualified and highly motivated individuals who are keen to work with remarkable young people providing an exceptional education for all.
If you wish to apply, please complete all sections of the application form by 12 noon on Friday 28th February 2025. In your supporting statement we would like you to include:
* a statement as to why this particular job appeals to you.
* an outline of your relevant experience
* a discussion of the personal and professional qualities which you believe suit you for this post
We would encourage all potential applicants to read all the attached documents and to browse our websites to get a fuller flavour of life at this very special place.
If you require further information or wish to either arrange a visit or discuss the post in more detail, please do feel free to get in touch on 015242 71275.
In the meantime, good luck with your application. We look forward to meeting you in the near future.
Cathy O'Neill, Executive Headteacher
