Role Description:
This is a full-time on-site role for an AP Psychology Teacher located in Cobham, Surrey, starting in August 2025. The AP Psychology Teacher will be teaching ages 16-18, responsible for developing and delivering engaging and effective lessons in psychology, creating lesson plans, assessing student progress, and communicating with students and parents. The teacher will also be responsible for inspiring and motivating students to achieve their best in the AP Psychology course.
Knowledge, skills, and experience required:
* Strong background in Psychology and Teaching AP in High School or IBDP Psychology
* A teaching qualification such as B.Ed/PGCE/QTS/Teaching licence or equivalent
* Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students in a safe learning environment, rooted in mutual respect
* Plan and teach well-structured engaging lessons, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students
* Promote student progress and outcomes, assess and provide feedback
* Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop teaching and learning resources for students at different levels
* Promote a love of learning
* Strong IT skills, preferably with Apple products
* Demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
* Fluent in both verbal and written English
* Offer help to all students who need additional learning support, working with Resource teachers, including EAL and learning differences specialists, to support students with specific learning needs
* Undertake training, keep up-to-date on requirements and work support the Pastoral Care programme, overseeing the day-to-day wellbeing of students to identify any student issues, problem-solving with the pastoral care team as required, liaising with parents/carers
* Participate in the extra-curricular programme
* Support with other duties to assist with the smooth running of the school.
