The Youth Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway are offering an opportunity for someone to work within the Oasis Youth Centre, which is our main Youth Centre in Dumfries. This is an opportunity to join an innovative and award-winning youth work team.
You will undertake a wide range of reception duties associated with a busy office including reception cover and provide support for wider youth work team. You will also welcome young people and visitors to the youth centre, and assist when required in relation to events that are ran by the youth work team.
The ideal candidate will have good communication, oral, written and interpersonal skills, as well as having the ability to organise and manage your own workload and a willingness to undertake any training relevant to the post.
The post will be required to work: 5.75 hours per week on a Monday, 52,14 weeks per year.
While you will be mainly office based, an ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends to support the service is desirable.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
