Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* MBBS or equivalent (primary medical degree as recognised by the GMC)
* ALS and at least one of: ATLS, APLS, ETC (or equivalent), MIMMS
Desirable criteria
* Higher qualification: MRCEM, FRCS, MRCS, MRCP, FRCA, etc.
* Certification in ALS, ATLS, APLS, MIMMS, WTC, PHEC, etc.
Experience and Skills
Essential criteria
* 4 years of postgraduate medical experience/training of which at least 12 months must be in Emergency Medicine (at least 6 months of this should be in the UK in a training or middle grade post at CT3 level or above)
* Ability to initiate appropriate initial management in common emergencies and to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement.
* Must not have been out of clinical practice for longer than 2 years.
* Previous involvement and understanding of audit
* Evidence of interest and participation in teaching. The ability to train and supervise junior medical staff and medical students
* Ability to lead when appropriate
* Good IT skills
Desirable criteria
* Wider ability in patient evaluation and a working knowledge of minor illnesses and injuries
* Attendance at appropriate professional meetings and courses
* Publication of audit results
* Instructor status in an advanced life support or equivalent course
