ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms and treatment rooms.
* Shadow and learn new skills from Medical Assistants and Front Office staff.
* Teach and confirm the accuracy of vital sign measurements.
* Review HIPAA, OSHA, and COVID policies and testing.
* Treat patients with courtesy and compassion.
* Help facilitate patient flow and communicate changes with patients and clinical staff.
* Maintain courteous relationships with outside caregivers, insurance carriers, labs, hospitals, and pharmacies at all times.
* Assist MA with ordering medical supplies & stocking exam rooms with appropriate items.
* Assist MA with regular cleaning/maintenance of all medical equipment.
* Assist with handling prescription refills, once appropriately trained.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Ability to assist in a variety of common office procedures.
* Ability to take direction from MAs, Front Office staff, and providers.
* Ability to maintain records and record test results once trained.
* Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations.
* Exceptional communication skills, both in person and over the telephone, with the ability to interact with patients in a friendly, courteous manner.
* Patient and helpful demeanor to assist patients in feeling welcome, comfortable, and relaxed.
* Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, their families, and staff members.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and be HIPAA compliant.
* Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
* Ability to occasionally lift and carry 20 pounds.
* Ability to cover at other primary care locations a plus, not required.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Experience in a physician’s office a plus but not required. We are willing to train and offer MA certification programs in-house.
Mental and Physical Requirements: Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting. This position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. May require working under stressful conditions.
Conditions: Normal office and exam room environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies, labs, hospitals, and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
