Job Description:
Job Title: Sub Agent
Location: North/East London
The Role:
As a Sub Agent, you will be responsible for the management of small-value civil engineering and construction sites or assist the Site Agent and Project Manager on larger value schemes, to achieve the required project delivery to the customer's objectives while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain commercial performance of the contract
2. Be responsible for the successful delivery of projects
3. Produce and manage the project programme and supervise the delivery of it
4. Understand and interpret drawings and specifications
5. Provide engineering expertise and support to the project team
6. Ensure all staff, subcontractors and visitors are properly inducted, meet the competencies required of them and hold relevant qualifications and tickets
7. Undertake an ambassadorial role, representing the Business to customers, the public and official bodies
8. Deliver product to customer satisfaction
9. Produce good quality, accurate monthly reports for the Client and internally
10. Chair weekly site meetings in line with Company procedures
11. Obtain all 'as built' information ensuring that it is accurate and relevant
Health, Safety, Environment and Quality:
1. Always comply with Company procedures and legal obligations, promoting best practice
2. Promote the companies cardinal rules and establish safe working cultures and practices and environmental compliance
3. Maintain and manage construction sites and subcontractors, developing positive working relationships
4. Oversee and ensure that all HSEQ-related documentation is kept up to date and briefed as necessary
5. Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly inspections are carried out and that all audits and reports are produced
6. Liaise with relevant third parties and government agencies
7. Ensure that the QA file is produced and maintained
8. Ensure the work is delivered snag/defect-free and on time
Cost Control:
1. Populate and manage the cost plan for the project
2. Maximise project value and maintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quo
Managing Resources:
1. Deal with any actual or potential problems with resources promptly
2. Ensure that records of resources are complete and accurate
Key Measures & Targets:
1. Monthly and weekly reporting timescales are met
2. Adherence to Business Unit Objectives
3. Ensure 3 Pillar KPI measures are met
Key Relationships:
1. Customers and stakeholders
2. Subcontractors and suppliers
3. Site teams and support departments
Person Specification:
1. Considerable experience in Civil Engineering
2. Working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management and cost control including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting
3. Good knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering
4. Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
5. CSCS card
6. SMSTS card
7. NEBOSH or IOSH
8. Full driving licence
9. Excellent communication, people, and team management skills with the ability to motivate others to achieve high standards of compliance
10. Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to a conclusion
11. Demonstrate the right behaviours to ensure the culture is in line with our Company values
12. Working towards CEng, IEng AMICE, or equivalent
