Position Overview: We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our team in Weymouth, Dorset. This is a locum role contracted for 2 months. The Consultant will play a crucial role in providing expert psychiatric care to older adults, contributing to the enhancement of mental health services in Weymouth, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations of older adult patients.
2. Develop personalised treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and clinical expertise.
3. Provide specialised psychiatric care, including medication management, psychotherapy, and cognitive assessments, to address the unique needs of older adults.
4. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including geriatricians, nurses, psychologists, and social workers, to coordinate care and ensure holistic support for patients.
5. Lead and participate in case conferences, team meetings, and clinical supervision sessions to review patient progress, discuss treatment strategies, and optimise outcomes.
6. Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvements and innovations to enhance the quality and effectiveness of psychiatric care for older adults.
Qualifications:
1. Medical degree from a recognized institution.
2. Section 12, Approved clinician.
3. Completion of specialist training in Psychiatry and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
4. Extensive experience and expertise in providing psychiatric care to older adults, with a focus on Old Age Psychiatry.
5. Strong clinical skills in conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
7. Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in the field of Old Age Psychiatry.
