We have a new and exciting opportunity within CANW for a Residential Therapist for our upcoming Residential Children’s Home. At this exciting point in growth for our charity, you will be responsible for supporting the emotional health and well-being through one-on-one and group work for the residents of the 3-bedroom home.
Job Purpose -
To develop and explore new and innovative ways of working with children and young people within a residential children’s home to address emotional/mental health issues.
* Using Person Centered, solution focused and creative and imaginative strategies, to work alongside staff when necessary to develop their skills, knowledge and resilience to meeting the individual needs of their children.
* To work as part of the Residential Service to encourage young people to actively participate in services/interventions/therapy that are identified as part of their assessed needs.
* To liaise and work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies in the interests of the Residential Service and needs of young people.
* To undertake direct work with children and young people which forms part of referral process by the commissioning agencies.
* To ensure that the service provided meets the needs of children and young people and balances emotional health with that of safeguarding (child protection).
* With the Team Manager, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention/plans/outcomes in partnership with commissioners and produce reports.
* To assist in the ongoing development of the Residential Service and in the identification of any gaps in service.
* To work in partnership with all CANW’s services to ensure best outcomes for children and young people within the Residential Service.
* To work within CANW’s Quality Assurance Framework (Trusted Charity) and work within best practice guidelines.
* To work in compliance with the Ofsted regulations and standards.
The ideal candidate for this role would be someone who -
* Has experience working with children and young people, particularly in addressing emotional and mental health issues.
* Possesses strong therapeutic skills and is comfortable using person-centered, solution-focused, and creative strategies.
* Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with young people, staff, and external agencies.
* Is passionate about empowering young people and supporting their emotional well-being, while maintaining a strong focus on safeguarding and child protection.
* Is able to work collaboratively within a team and support staff in developing their skills to meet the needs of young people.
* Has relevant qualifications in therapy, psychology, social work, or a related field, and is committed to ongoing professional development.

Experience
Counselling Skills Level 3 and above, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Level 3, Play therapy level 3, Psychology level 3, CYP IAPT Children and Young people’s Wellbeing Practitioner, CYP IAPT Education and Mental Health Practitioner (see person specification).
