Job summary We are pleased to invite applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow for a full-time role working 50% within Undergraduate Medical Education and 50% within Acute Medicine - Emergency Assessment Unit. As a Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow, you will be a member of the Salford Royal Clinical Education Campus working across the Northern Care Alliance for a 12-monthperiod from the beginning of August and based within the Emergency Assessment Unit at Salford Royal. You will be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and support the Undergraduate Team with the delivery of the Medical Education Curriculum whilst also supporting the EAU team. In return, you will benefit from the ability to develop your clinical examination teaching skills. We are looking for somebody who has a particular interest in Medical Education and Acute Medicine, and we will put funding towards a 1 year PG Cert in Medical Education. Main duties of the job The post holder will be responsible for: The initial assessment, diagnosis and early management (including admission clerking) of medical patients in the Emergency Department, Emergency Assessment Unit and Ambulatory care area. Undertaking patient ward rounds on the Emergency Assessment Unit under consultant supervision. Liaison with other specialties where appropriate. Providing senior advice and support to junior members of the team. Undertaking practical procedures including IV cannulation, arterial blood gas, lumbar puncture, ascitic drain and chest drain (training given if necessary) Ensuring timely discharge summaries During the year we would also provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to participate in relevant projects designed to develop their portfolio for example: Research Quality Improvement In addition, you will have access to a highly successful QI team and a named educational supervisor.
