We work on a broad range of projects in the healthcare, commercial, industrial, rail, residential sectors, amongst others, across the full design process from feasibility and concept design through planning and to detailed design for construction.
We specialise in development planning, site appraisal and Civil Engineering (including Flood Risk Assessment and hydraulic modelling), Structural Engineering, Geo-environmental / Geotechnical Engineering and Transport Planning.
Position Summary
As an Apprentice Engineer, you will work alongside our skilled team, providing valuable support and you can either work in one specific discipline or gain experience across each of the disciplines.
You will be highly motivated and committed to the delivery of high-quality engineering schemes for our clients, whilst undertaking part-time university studies alongside your role in the office.
JNP is a small to medium sized consultancy and as such exposure to interesting and challenging work is guaranteed as is the opportunity to make a real impact.
Main Duties
* Attend University 1 day per week through term time and work towards achieving a degree in Civil Engineering (BSc or BEng equivalent) at an accredited Degree Apprenticeship University.
* Work towards and complete an ‘End Point Assessment’ with the Institution of Civil Engineers and achieve the IEng MICE professional qualification at the end of your studies.
* Assist in the production of technical drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Revit.
* Assist in the production of calculations, from scheme design to specific specialist modelling software, 3D finite element analysis and design packages.
* Assistance in the preparation of assessments and technical reports.
* Working within the team to solve challenging engineering issues.
* Liaison with clients, other consultants and external agencies i.e. Environment Agency, Regional Highway Authorities and water companies etc.
* Attending site visits and team meetings.
Requirements
Education
* Apprenticeship candidates will typically have at least three A levels at Grades A*-C including Mathematics and Physical Science or their equivalent or will have completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship as a Civil Engineering Technician.
Technical Skills
* Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD (preferred not essential).
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software packages i.e. Excel, Word etc.
* Working appreciation of relevant engineering principles.
Competencies
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
A test may need to be completed prior or on the day of the interview.
Reasonable travel expenses to attend the interview will be reimbursed.

Pay: £12,000.00-£13,000.00 per year
