Occupational Therapist (NHS AfC: Band 6) - occupational therapy - Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust – Hawkhurst, Kent
West Kent Therapies is looking to recruit a full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our established inpatient community hospital team. This is a vibrant service and we can offer you a friendly and supportive environment.
The post is based in Hawkhurst Community Hospital. The role will include some domiciliary visits in the local area. There will be opportunities for development across the Therapy team within the West Kent Locality, and there is work available at the other 2 sites (Tonbridge and Westview in Tenterden).
Now is a good time to be joining our team, as we are working closely with our clinical partners on new developments to enhance our excellent patient-centred care within the community hospitals, with many Quality Improvement projects happening. Our teams have great opportunities for Continuing Professional Development through our internal training programme and external courses.
The team consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants who work closely with nursing staff and doctors. We see patients with a wide range of problems including musculoskeletal, neurological, orthopaedic and complex co-morbidities. We provide rehabilitation and moving and handling solutions for patients in their homes, and in the community.
You should be experienced, motivated and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You must be an HCPC registered Physiotherapist with post-graduate experience. You must be able to travel around the Trust in a timely manner, so a car is essential.
Your role will be:
1. To assess, develop and implement evidence-based treatment programmes for these patients within their own homes, community hospitals and other community settings.
2. To be an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for own caseload working without direct supervision.
3. To work as a member of a multidisciplinary/multi-agency team providing a high-quality service to adults who have a wide range of physical, medical or developmental problems.
4. To provide support and information to patients, families and all agencies involved in the patients’ care.
5. To provide support, training and guidance to junior staff.
If you are interested in part time hours or working at one of the other sites mentioned, then please do get in touch.
