Taylor Woodrow is recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join our team on the Sprint scheme, based in the West Midlands. The project involves a significant number of construction schemes on the highways network, to ultimately improve bus transit times. Schemes range from building new bus shelters to delivering major junction improvements.
Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for a team of Engineers to provide technical expertise across the schemes.
Duties:
* Take overall responsibility for quality assurance on the project - ensuring works are handed over defect free with the appropriate documentation.
* Managing and mentoring a team of six Engineers.
* Plan the teams’ outputs to prevent delay to delivery whilst ensuring compliance with quality requirements.
* Review and approve quality documentation prepared by the team.
* Monitor subcontractors compliance with quality processes and review quality documentation for accuracy in accordance with the scope.
* Provide advice on development of construction methodology to ensure optimal engineering solutions are reached.
* Ensure robust temporary works procedures are implemented on the project.
* Develop the on-site inspection process, establish rotas, and take responsibility for critical activities.
* Monitor the progress of works to review impact of changing conditions on agreed methodology and temporary works design etc.
* Actively engage in the creative and innovative development of engineering technologies and procedures.
* Identify challenges and define methodologies that overcome these to deliver safe and cost-effective solutions that deliver the programme.
* Manage the development of complex designs requiring multi-disciplinary and specialist input.
* Lead in defining measures to ensure the works are conducted in accordance with all HS&E legislation and the site Health Safety and Environmental Plans.
Person Specification:
* Formal qualification in a civil engineering or construction related subject.
* CSCS card.
* Previous experience working on infrastructure projects.
* Extensive knowledge of quality management within a civils infrastructure environment.
* Member of Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) and working towards CEng status is advantageous but not essential.
