VACANCY – BAND 6 Acute Older Adults PHYSIOTHERAPIST
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated senior physiotherapist to work on our older adults team at Lincoln Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in providing acute physiotherapy for older people, and will have the motivation and passion to support in driving the development of the acute older adults therapy service together with the band 7 Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.
Band 5's with less than the suggested experience will be considered and would be appointed to a transitional post, where they would be supported through appropriate competencies over a 6- 12 month period.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will support in leading a developing and experienced clinical team of therapy staff of Bands 2-6 and will support the development of Therapy staff as part of the wider MDT to deliver evidence based interventions for people on the in patient older adult ward areas. The successful candidate must be flexible, innovative & highly motivated. The role requires the appointed person to be proactive and adaptable to support the smooth and prompt transition of in- patient care to the individuals’ place of discharge, taking into account their needs. The successful applicant will be well supported within the therapy department and will be encouraged to develop the service. This is an exciting time to join us; you will be part of a team that continues to deliver excellent services for our patients.
Our team is highly focussed on supporting your development and we work hard to ensure you will receive 1:1 supervision, regular training/peer review and access to advice and support from our team of Clinical Specialist physiotherapists.
All physiotherapists benefit from protected CPD time, as well as the opportunity to attend locally organised courses run by nationally accredited tutors.
The post will be full time, will work as part of a 7 day service and be expected to be part of the respiratory on-call service.
All applicants must have a current HPC registration.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy
* State registration
* Evidence of maintained CPD in a portfolio including attendance at relevant post graduate courses
* Membership of the CSP
* Involvement in a special interest group that relates to the job role
Experience
* Experience as a Physiotherapist in acute hospital setting, in the NHS and a variety of clinical areas including surgical, stroke/neurology, respiratory, older adults and medicine.
* Experience of working as part of a team/ MDT
* Good theoretical knowledge with working knowledge of a broad range of conditions
* Student or assistant supervision, contributing to education
* Knowledge of the workings of the community services and intermediate care services
* Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
Skills
* Knowledge of CSP guidelines, Trust policies & procedures understanding the legal responsibilities of the role
* Understanding clinical governance & its implications for the service
* Excellent verbal, non verbal and written skills along with clear logical presentation skills
* Ability to work effectively alone & as part of a team
* Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise in a timely and effective manner
* Ability to cope with working in a moderately demanding environment with aggressive and emotional people
* Passionate about working with older people
* Evidence of participation in audits
* Ability to organise and run internal courses
* Supervision of other staff
* Committee membership e.g. safety committee.
