The Asset Manager at GB Railfreight is responsible for the managing GBRF’s physical and financial assets, including Locomotives and Rolling stock ensuring they are utilised efficiently and effectively, maintained in an optimal condition and comply with all standards and regulations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing asset management strategies to maximise the value and efficiency of assets, plan for asset acquisition, maintenance, and disposal in alignment with overall business objectives, ensuring optimal performance throughout the asset lifecyle. Closing date: 19th May Safety Manage GBRf and contractor maintenance locations, ensuring GBRf’s interests are prioritised. · Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and production to ensure the reliability and availability of rolling stock. Engineering support Arrange and attend site meetings with the Regional Operations Manager, Safety Department, Facilities Manager, and other stakeholders. Ensure maintenance sites operate safely and efficiently, and that GBRf and contractor processes work harmoniously, especially regarding vehicle movements around maintenance locations. Provide support to GBRf Operations, Production, and Commercial Teams. Foster strong 1:1 relationships with GBRf Train Crew, Planning, and Operations/Production Management to ensure high-level communication and feedback. Organise and conduct meetings with maintenance contractors and GBRf Operations Teams to ensure effective local actions and communications that support operations. Evaluate and suggest modifications to maintenance schedules and philosophies through appropriate bodies to enhance reliability and achieve cost savings. Oversee the implementation of changes to improve safety, performance, and operations as needed. Ensure that current Maintenance plans for all rolling stock and locomotives operated by GBRf are certified by the appropriate bodies and strictly followed by all relevant parties. Supervise the activities of contractors maintaining GBRf's rolling stock and locomotive fleets, ensuring thorough investigation and rectification of all defects. Work with the Fleet Planning Team to create clear action plans for the removal, replacement, and repair of defective rolling stock and locomotives. Establish and chair regular Contract and Technical Review meetings to formally record supplier performance, identifying shortfalls against agreed KPIs or targets, and agreeing on improvement plans. Hold daily conference calls with maintainers to provide clear direction on work priorities, agree on investigation and repair methods, and drive daily and monthly availability reports. Expedite the repair of unserviceable assets by addressing resource, material, or manpower shortfalls to ensure quick return to service. Assist the Traction Fleet Manager in preparing the annual budget and ensure its delivery through effective contract management and expenditure control. Offer 2nd line on-call engineering support to the GBRf business. Supplier Management Ensure effective communication and collaboration between internal teams and suppliers Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with both internal and external suppliers. Secure contracts and agreements that ensure advantageous terms and conditions. Continuously monitor supplier performance and promptly resolve any issues or discrepancies Act as the main point of contact between GBRf and suppliers. Update Senior Management: Regularly inform senior management about supplier performance and compliance status Compliance & Standards Guarantee that all rolling stock and freight locomotives adhere to Railway and Industry Standards. Perform regular audits and inspections to confirm compliance. Address and rectify any non-compliance issues identified through corrective actions. Maintenance oversight Supervise the maintenance of rolling stock and freight locomotives to ensure they remain in optimal condition. Work with maintenance teams to schedule and prioritise maintenance tasks. Evaluate and approve maintenance plans and reports. Operational efficiency Develop and implement strategies to improve the operational efficiency of rolling stock and freight locomotives. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on operational performance. Identify and Implement Improvements: Recognise and execute process improvements to boost efficiency. Risk Management Detect potential risks associated with supplier management and maintenance activities. · Formulate and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks. Continuously monitor risk management activities and report on their status. Documentation and reporting Keep accurate and up-to-date records of supplier contracts, agreements, and performance. Compile and present reports on supplier performance, compliance, and maintenance activities. · Ensure all documentation adheres to company policies and regulatory requirements.
