We have an exciting opportunity for a Developmental Practitioner to join our team.
A unique feature of this post is a clear and protected element of professional development within our integrated Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
Alongside clinical practice, there will be opportunities provided in order to allow the post holder to develop a broad range of competence and skill in working with children, young people and their families experiencing emotional distress and mental ill health. There is an identified Lead Practitioner available to support this development.
Ensuring effective service provision to children and young people is a high priority within Gwent, with transformation of multi-agency services for children, young people and families being a priority within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. This is an opportunity to work within a psychologically minded service with a strong commitment to the prudent healthcare agenda. Informal enquiry about the post is welcomed.
Main duties of the job
This post will appeal particularly to people who have experience in the field of mental health and want to develop their confidence and competencies in working with children, young people and families.
The development opportunities will be designed in order to support the successful applicant to deliver the five functions of Part One of the Mental Health Measure:
* conducting assessments of mental health need
* providing brief, evidence-based therapeutic interventions
* offering consultation to professionals working at a 'Tier One' level
* providing guidance and advice to children, young people and their families
* supporting onward referral where necessary.
Post available is part time - 30 hours per week. Applicants must be Mental Health Professionals as defined in the Mental Health (Wales) Measure - Children, Young People and Families PCAMHS Practitioner: Registered Mental Health Nurse/Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities Nurse/Registered Occupational Therapist/Registered Social Worker/Registered Practitioner Psychologist in order to apply for these posts.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
