Job Title: Operations/Contracts Manager

Role Overview: rapidly growing electrical and mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Operations/Contracts Manager to oversee project execution, financial control, and team management, ensuring efficiency and profitability.
The ideal candidate will reduce reliance on senior leadership by ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Execution:
Lead the day-to-day management of project activities, ensuring all deadlines and deliverables are met.
Oversight of existing projects including NEC4 contracts, ensuring compliance and smooth execution.
Oversee and support the project management team in managing projects effectively.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks in project workflows to improve efficiency.
Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality control and adherence to safety regulations.
Financial & Cost Control:
Manage project financial tracking, budgeting, and invoicing.
Work closely with the MD to improve cost forecasting and financial planning.
Ensure proper cost allocation and budget control across all projects.
Assist in pricing variations and claims to maximise profitability.
Team & Site Management:
Provide leadership and oversight to the project management team and site staff.
Ensure clear task prioritisation and accountability across all departments.
Implement structured reporting systems to improve communication and efficiency.
Support HR functions related to site and office teams, including performance management and recruitment.
Process Improvement & Efficiency:
Identify inefficiencies in current project management processes and implement improvements.
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for project delivery.
Introduce better delegation strategies to reduce reliance on the MD for daily decisions.
Commercial & Contract Management:
Support contract negotiations, variations, and claims.
Ensure full compliance with NEC4 contractual obligations and project documentation.
Assist in client-facing discussions and relationship management.
Candidate Requirements:
Extensive experience in electrical and/or mechanical project management.
Proven track record of managing large-scale projects and teams.
Strong understanding of contract management, particularly NEC4 contracts.
Commercial awareness with experience in budgeting, cost tracking, and invoicing.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to introduce structure and prioritisation within a fast-growing business.
Experience working with construction or M&E contractors is highly desirable.
Strong IT skills, including project management software proficiency.

Paying approx £70k - £85k base + Benefits
